Cosmetic surgery patients regret not learning more before undergoing procedures, study suggests

>>> LEARN HERE ALL YOU CAN BEFORE UNDERGOING PLASTIC SURGERY

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says that patients need to do more research before undergoing plastic surgery. The conclusion was based on the results of a poll of 617 cosmetic or reconstructive surgery patients which revealed a large percentage of patients having regrets about not learning more about cosmetic surgery side effects before undergoing the surgery.Jump directly to: conventional view alternative view bottom line. Conventional View• Eighty percent of the patients polled said they were satisfied with the results of their surgery, and 91 percent said that they knew what to expect ahead of time.• Forty percent, however, revealed they wished they had done more research prior to the procedure, while only 28 percent reported having checked their surgeon's credentials.• More than half of the patients polled said that they had been concerned about potential side effects or complications related to their surgery, but that they had not been properly informed about them or felt comfortable asking questions of their surgeon.• In 2005, more than 10.2 million cosmetic and 5.4 million reconstructive plastic surgeries were performed in the United States.• Among cosmetic surgeries, the most popular was liposuction. Next came nose jobs, breast augmentation, eyelid surgery and tummy tucks.• Quote: "You can afford to be nonchalant about some things, but surgery is not one of them." - Dr. Roxanne Guy, president of ASPS

What you need to know - Alternative View
Statements and opinions by Mike Adams, executive director of the Consumer Wellness Center• Too many patients view cosmetic surgery as a cure-all for poor lifestyle decisions surrounding diet and exercise. These surgeries are typically over-hyped and the full potential side effects are rarely explained to patients in a meaningful way.• Even though surgeries may produce short-term cosmetic results, they do nothing to enhance personal health, and unless a healthy lifestyle is pursued by patients, they will never appear thin, fit or healthy, regardless of how many cosmetic surgeries are performed.

Bottom line• Patients need to do more research into their surgeon's credentials and into potential side effects before committing to plastic surgery.

Lift the Butt, the Brazilian Way

Since time immemorial, a woman’s curvy figure has been influencing many a great poets and artists, let alone attracting the opposite sex. The more the hip to waist ratio, the more beautiful a woman is considered and not everybody is blessed with those perfect figures. Apparently, Cosmetic Surgery has become inseparable from the ones looking for a perfect body and is ready to spend to go under the knife.

The cosmetic surgery trends, too, are shifting the focus from one procedure to another. There was a time when the breast used to rule the chart. Recently, it’s the butt. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian have boosted the popularity of ‘Brazilian Butt Lift’ procedure to ‘a never seen before’ level.

Reportedly, Cosmetic Harmony, a medical tourism company specializing in cosmetic surgery and travel packages to Columbia, has been witnessing a dramatic increase in clients requesting the ‘Brazilian Butt Lift’ procedure.

“Butt is quickly becoming the most scrutinized body part. Even the prehistory talks about how the attraction of a curvy woman’s rear helped spread the human race. There was a time when breast implants used to be our most common procedure and now the ratio of ‘Brazilian Butt Lift” to ‘Breast implants’ in Cosmetic Harmony is on a 3 to 1 basis. This procedure is performed by injecting the fat which is collected from other areas of the body by liposuction, into the buttocks. The fat is processed and purified before it is re-injected. Interestingly, the procedure also calls for a fairly artistic eye that can carve bodies, and the hands that will know the exact spot to inject the fat for the most satisfying results,” says Anthony Giudice, Cosmetic Harmony Sales Supervisor.

“The Colombian surgeons have been, successfully, performing the procedure for many years for thousands of patients from across the globe. Their success stories, actually, wards off the fear of being put under the inexperienced hands. Though, ‘Brazilian Butt Lift’ procedure is fairly new, it is as common to breast augmentation procedures for Cosmetic Harmony’s surgeons. Hence, our clients get the best lift, the Brazilian Way,” quips Giudice.

Cosmetic Harmony designs Body contouring surgery Package for Gastric Bypass Surgery Patients..

Research has shown that 60 percent of Americans above the age of 20 are either overweight or obese and every year thousands of them undergo gastric bypass surgery, a medical weight loss procedure, to shed those extra pounds. Gastric bypass surgery, although popular, comes out with its own flaws such as the sagging, excess skin due to extreme weight loss.

Interestingly, this is where the body contouring surgery comes into play. Cosmetic Harmony, one of the leading medical tourism companies in Colombia for state-of-the-art facilities in various cosmetic surgery procedures, has designed the ‘Body contouring surgery Package’. The package includes Face lift, Lower body lift, Breast lift, Arm lift and Thigh lift.

“Gastric bypass surgery, although leads an overweight body to lose 60-350 pounds, it leaves with sagging skins. Apparently, body contouring surgery fixes sagging of the face, abdomen, buttocks, groin and outer thighs, breasts, upper arms, inner, outer and mid thigh to regain normal body contours,” says Anthony Giudice, Cosmetic Harmony Sales Supervisor.

“Increasing number of Gastric bypass surgery procedure has been fuelling cosmetic surgery procedures in Cosmetic Harmony. Our record says that every 6 out of 10 Cosmetic Harmony patients opting for body lifts procedures have undergone Gastric bypass surgery in the past. Hence, our package is designed based on the procedures we have been performing for fixing those sagging skins. However, we have made the package flexible so that the patients can have the discretion to opt for the surgeries based on the skin’s looseness.” Mr. Giudice informs.
